MAINTAINING PERFORMANCE FUEL SYSTEM DEPOSITS CAN BE A MAJOR ISSUE One of the major problems to proper air/fuel ratios is fuel system deposits. Fuel system deposits can negate all advantages gained from sophisticated hardware. Fuel economy suffers; emission rates soar; and driveability quickly deteriorates as power- robbing deposits are allowed to accumulate.
Pyroil ® Fuel Injector and Carburettor Cleaner removes troublesome deposits as you drive by removingthe deposits normally formed in fuel injectors and carburettors. In most cases, driveability and power are restored in just one tankful of treated petrol. Port fuel injectors, throttle body fuel injectors and carburettors are all designed to deliver fuel to the combustion chamber. In concert with these fuel metering devices, very sophisticated computer aided fuel system are designed to provide precise air/fuel ratios. The astute motorist knows that routinely changing a car’s motor oil and filter is the best way to protect and prolong the life of its engine. The second most important thing motorists can do for their car is to properly maintain the fuel system. With high fuel prices impacting motorists more than ever, maintaining a vehicle’s fuel efficiency through preventative maintenance is a sound investment. With a little preventative maintenance and the regular use of automotive chemicals, motorists can avoid problems that increase exhaust emissions and rob their car of fuel efficiency and horse power.
Aside from regular servicing, workshop mechanics should also consider making their customers aware of:
1. Keeping the fuel tank from running low. A good rule of thumb is to start thinking about a fill-up whenthe gauge drops to ¼ of a tank. The reasoning behind frequent fill ups is a reduction in condensation and contamination. The less fuel in the tank, the more space is available for condensation to form. The condensation (water) settles to the bottom of the fuel tank where it can then cause fuel system contamination, resulting in poor engine performance.
2. Contaminants are present in all fuel tanks to some degree. When the tank gets low contaminants aresucked into the fuel line, potentially clogging fuel filters, fuel injectors and causing fuel pumps to fail. Contaminated fuel systems mean that fuel injectors and carburettors do not perform as they were designed, leading to incomplete vaporisation of fuel in the induction system. This can lead to the formation of deposits in the inlet ports, on valves and in the combustion chamber.
Pyroil ® Fuel Injector and Carburettor Cleaner is used as part of the Flush and Emission Service to ensurethat the entire fuel system is maintained. It is also strongly recommended that it be used every 5,000kms to form part of a vehicle’s ongoing fuel system maintenance. Regular use helps retain the vehicles drivability for longer between services.
As an integral part of good fuel system maintenance, Valvoline ® also recommends a Fuel and EmissionService every 30,000kms. The Pyroil® Carbon Flush and Emission Service can be performed in as little as 15-20 minutes and the benefits are realised immediately. The service removes deposits whilst cleaning and protecting the entire fuel system. It can restore maximum power and efficiency to the engine and also prevent rough idling and hesitation, knocking and pinging due to deposits.
